As we commemorate the events of the First World War we remember those who died on the Sunday nearest the centenary of their death. The names are too many – at present over 500 – to place in a single document but they will be regularly updated on this site with details of some of them to give a personal portrait.

The names come from two sources: the war memorial in St Anne’s Church which includes many (but not all) of the casualties who had lived in the parish of St Anne, Wandsworth, and also a number of non parishioners who were mourned by congregation members; and names on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website recorded as having lived in the present parish of St Anne with St Faith, Wandsworth. (There is no record of a war memorial in the old St Faith’s Church which was demolished in the 1960s.) Where we can identify their home as still standing we will write to the present occupiers to inform them of their predecessor and to invite them to the Sunday commemoration.
